Overwhelmed by GRE Vocab? Harness Our AI-Driven, Science-Backed System to Slash Your Prep Time

The most technologically advanced and scientifically proven method of memorizing a large amount of GRE words in a short time frame.

By Dhruv Dharamshi

Magoosh offers a list of ~1000 words that are important to memorise for the GRE. However, their memorisation app falls short of actually helping you remember the words by utilising the most efficient technique possible.

I’ll break down what goes into a good memorisation system, and share steps you can take to get set up for success (takes less than 5 minutes to complete).

This method is tried and tested with a client improving their performance on Verbal from 152 to 169 in 6 weeks.

What makes a vocabulary memorisation system efficient?

There are two parts to memorising a large amount of words in a short time frame for the GRE: Spaced Repetition and Strong Recall.

Spaced Repetition:

The most efficient way to memorise a new word is to review it several times - initially often so that the word becomes familiar, and then less frequently to help transfer the new knowledge to long-term memory.

However, some words are easier than others to memorise. How do you keep track of when to recall each of the thousand words - each with a unique spaced repetition frequency?

This is where Anki comes into play. It automates this very task of spaced repetition, leveraging the flashcard method to allow you to first test your memory, and give Anki feedback on how easy or difficult you found the word to be, depending on which Anki decides when to show you the word next. This takes the burden off of you so you can focus solely on memorisation and not worry about the logistics of keeping track of flashcards and spaced repetition.

Strong Recall:

What is the best method to recall a word? Is it using it in a sentence? Is it through mnemonics? Synonyms and Antonyms? Or is it simply grasping the meaning of the word? The answer is that it varies from word to word, and from person to person. You don’t know what about the word is going to be most memorable to you individually.

This is why I’ve leveraged the latest advancements in AI to provide me with each and every tool available for all of the ~1000 words so that you can decide what sticks best to your memory. Specifically:

  • Meaning of the word
  • Using it in a sentence
  • Mnemonic (an analogy that makes the word easy to remember)
  • Synonyms (other similar words)
  • Antonyms (the opposite of the word)
  • Etymology (the origin or history of the word)

The acingGRE method leverages the most scientific and technically advanced tools available (for free)

Combining the power of Artificial Intelligence to produce comprehensive descriptions of each word with Anki’s incredible spaced repetition system gives us the most scientifically efficient and tech-savvy way of approaching a problem that many test takers dread the most.
